Step Work Book: an 18-week Gude for doing the Twelve Steps in a small group.
Editor: William Schaberg (2026): This version has been altered and improved as part of a project started early this century. Originally, Startford Men's Group created a program for people to work the steps together. This process has been recreated and repeated over the years and around the world.
The number of weeks has been shortened and extended; 18 seems ideal.
The many groups that have gone through this process have offered improvements which have been incorporated through the years.
For instance, along with some other improvements, this version is coil-bound - widely agreed to be ideal for writing/working the exercises and keeping everything together.
Step Workbook: an 18-week Guide for doing the Twelve Steps in a small group. This is not a "study guide." This is a group experience (in-person or online) of individuals, going through the 12 Step process. Members take turns leading each of the 18 weeks.
This book is now available in a coil-bound format, overwhelmingly requested as perfect for writing in the sections and keeping everything together.
Firmly based on the text of the Big Book, this WORK BOOK has been tested and modified by the collective experience and suggestions of thousands of people since 2003.
With detailed instructions on how to form a group of ten (or so) committed people, the WORK BOOK will walk you and your friends through each of the Twelve Steps based on specific readings from the book, followed by detailed written homework assignments on those readings, followed by in-depth discussion meetings to compare notes on each individual’s understanding of the readings and report on the actions taken.
Be warned… this is a lot of WORK!… but the rewards both individually and for the group have always proven to be amazing once the eighteen weeks have been successfully completed.
